Balance of control and comfort

I had a great shoot with Mary Shields, and she was genuinely excited to try on ballet heels for the first time. She had imagined possibly incorporating some standing poses with them, but once we tested it, it didn’t match the idea she had in mind. So instead, we shifted direction and kept the focus on a creative, grounded set that allowed her to move freely and stay comfortable in her rhythm.

Mary wore an anthracite latex catsuit, combined with a tightly laced corset and over-elbow gloves layered on top. The materials worked beautifully together, glossy, sculpted, and detailed without being overstyled. The way the light played across the different surfaces emphasized the contrast between structure and skin, especially with the ballet heels giving the look a striking finish from the ground up.

We utilized an industrial location to create a hard-edged backdrop that complemented the softness of her expression and body language. Sitting, kneeling, and leaning became the natural poses for this shoot, allowing the outfit to breathe while still maintaining visual weight. It was the right balance of control and comfort, and Mary owned it.
